Blake Lively has been hanging out a lot at the house of Chanel, as she was spotted in the front row of the Chanel Haute Couture show during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, as well as at the reopening of the Chanel store in New York. It turns out all that stalking has paid off as she was just named the new face of Chanel.
Lively will be featured in a spring campaign for Chanel’s new Mademoiselle handbag line. Karl Lagerfeld has named her the “official ambassador” of their handbag collection and describes Lively as “a kind of American dream girl.”
Blake Lively told WWD that she grew up “admiring Chanel” and all it represents. “It is timeless, chic, graceful, intelligent, iconic and ever relevant,” she said.
The actress, who recently appeared in The Town with Ben Affleck, was recently photographed by Lagerfeld at Chanel’s Rue Cambon headquarters. She said being in the same apartment where Coco Chanel showed her collections was “a dream come true.”
Her ads will reportedly run in April. “I can say that I feel like the happiest, luckiest girl around,” the Gossip Girl star said.
“Though I am the face of it, I will carry it like every girl,” Lively said of the Chanel handbag line. “I will always feel it’s more than just a purse. It’s a quilted case full of lipstick, love letters and the dreams and possibilities that I have always felt every time I see that beautiful ‘CC.’”
